Gonna be eating a lot of pizza

1097355_pizzaI got some pretty devastating news at work today and am still at a loss over what I’m going to do about it. I should start by saying I didn’t get fired as I know that is probably what you were thinking. I did however get all of my overtime hours cut and those were my bread and butter. I don’t make enough working a straight 40 hours to pay all of my bills because believe me I have a lot of them especially in the credit card department. The past year or so I have been picking up at least one extra shift a week and that added up on my paycheck. I guess the company is tightening the reigns or at least that is what my boss said. He also said he has no idea how long it is going to last but I shouldn’t expect any overtime in the near future.

My first thought of how to make this work was lowering any of my aforementioned bills that I can. I am going to start by looking for and getting the cheapest car insurance that I can get. I am talking the state minimum coverage whatever that is. I am still on the same kind of coverage I had when I was married as my ex wife Jenny took care of all that stuff. I also want to see what I can do to lower my cable bill as I know I pay a lot for that each month.

I’m also going to have to stop eating out so much. I know it is easy and I know the food is better than what I can make at home but I also know it is more expensive. I don’t even want to think how much I spend in a week on food. The problem is I don’t know how to cook much but I am going to learn. I’ll start off with making simple stuff and go from there. My brother Carl is a pretty good cook so maybe he can give me some pointers too. My social life is also going to have to take a hit as I won’t be able to go out as much on the weekends.

I guess the alternative to all of this is to either find another job (which would be tough) or get something part-time. I’ll have to think about that more but it is an option.
